Founded by Richard Warren Sears and  Alvah Curtis Roebuck  in 1893 as a mail order source for watches, what became America’s mightiest department store chain survived 125 years of upheavals in the marketplace. At one time it sold items ranging from auto parts to prefabricated houses (with everything including the kitchen sink). But now the question remains: is there any place at all for a store like Sears in the 21 st century among giants like Amazon and Walmart?
