“The genesis of all art is the pursuit of the irrecoverable. . .” This quote by novelist John Fowles motivated fifth-generation New City boy, Frank Eberling to write and publish several novels set in his hometown, with several more on the way. Join Frank as he explores how his hometown has provided him with endless inspiration. Wade with him in the DEMAREST KILL; climb LOW TOR; hear his love songs to New City from JIMMY VAN METER’S LAST REFRAIN; and learn how the Summer of 1963 changed the world, in his work-in-progress set in New City Park, THAT GLORIOUS SUMMER OF OUR CONTENT.

  • Frank’s grandmother, Elsa Eberling was a co-founder of the New City Library in the 1940s and 1950s. At one time she held Library Card #1.
  • A fifth generation New City boy, Frank Eberling graduated from Clarkstown High School in 1964 and moved south to attend The University of Florida.
  • After five years as a high school Language Arts teacher, he eventually became an Emmy Award-winning television writer, director, cinematographer, and producer, with almost four thousand broadcast credits and two feature films as writer/director.

His assignments have taken him all over the world, but his heart remains in New City.
