Show your New City or West Nyack library card and receive a witch hazel plant.  The native witch hazel can be grown as a large shrub or small tree and offers fantastic fall attributes. Fragrant, yellow flowers bloom from October through December. The foliage, attractive in all growing seasons, also turns yellow to yellowish-orange in fall.  Deer resistant.   It will need protection from deer for the first few years.
